Short Rimmel Stay Matte Powder Review

Today is just going to be a short post. It was a long day but I still wanted to put at least something small up for you guys. I’ve been wanting to try a new powder since I’ve been using the same one pretty much since I started wearing makeup. The powder I use is fine but I don’t really have anything to compare it to. The one I use is the Rimmel Stay Matte powder and I usually use the transparent one. I think the lightest shade is Sandstorm and I only use that in the summer or if my foundation is a little too light. It looks like it would be the perfect color for me but ends up being a little too dark.

StayMattePressedPowder_PRODUCT_01Overall I like the powder. It isn’t fantastic but it gets the job done. It’s also really cheap ($4.99 at Ulta) so that’s a big plus. It doesn’t feel too creamy but it stills feels nice if that makes sense. I tend to go through these quickly even when I try to not use a ton of powder. It doesn’t make me look cakey but it doesn’t really make me look completely matte. It kind of has more of a satin finish which is okay but if you’re looking for completely matte then this isn’t it. Throughout the day my face definitely starts to look more oily giving me a more dewy, and sometimes just straight up oily, look. Probably means I should reapply my powder but I never do, I just hope my foundation stays on. So I would like some more staying power out of it, I notice my skin looking more and more satiny pretty quickly. I usually get about an hour or so of a little bit satiny and then it goes downhill from there. It does make my foundation stay longer though, just doesn’t look as good at the end of the day as it did at the beginning. I also wish there were more colors so I could use one with a bit of coverage to it as well. Overall I’d give it a 6.5 out of 10, not fantastic but not terrible.

Sorry this was such a short post. Hopefully next week I’ll have a lippy review with swatches, a clothing haul, and maybe a hair tutorial. If you have any suggestions let me know! See you tomorrow 🙂
