January Ipsy Bag Update!

IMG_2393 IMG_2392Alright it’s time for me to update you guys on this last month’s Ipsy bag since my new one shipped today. Ipsy is a monthly subscription bag that sends you usually 5 luxury samples and full size products for $10 a month. When you sign up you answer some questions about skin tone and what kind of products you like to help them pick products that will be good for you. You can click here to go to their website and click here to read my blog post from when I first got this month’s items (they’ll open in a new tab so don’t worry). I’ve actually been using the products quite a lot this month and I’ve really been enjoying them. I went and house sat for someone for a week and the bag everything came in definitely came in handy. I used it for some of my makeup and it worked really well. It’s cute and easy to clean.

FullSizeRenderThe first product is the BellaPierre shimmer powder in Exite. This is $14.99 on their website and this is full size. This is the one I was least excited about and the one I’ve used the least. This right here pays for the whole bag so that’s really awesome. The quality of the product itself is pretty nice. It’s a nice fine powder that blends out pretty easy. With any loose powder you have to deal with fallout and this is no exception. It looks like it will be white but it’s really just super shimmery and if I get any color at all it ends up looking more silver than white because of the shimmer. I wouldn’t use this as an eye shadow but if I’m careful I can use it as a highlight. It’s really not my favorite highlight but that’s how I’ll end up using it. You have to be careful because it’s so dang shimmery but it looks nice on the center of the eyelid or in the inner corner of your eyes. Overall not my favorite product but the quality is alright, just wish I had gotten a different color.

IMG_2398The next product was another eye shadow but I’ve actually used this one a lot this month. It’s from Pacifica in the shade Treasure. IMG_2399A group of 3 or 4 of these on their website is $14 and this definitely looks like a full size to me. I really liked this eye shadow. It’s a nice golden brown color with shimmer (but not overpowering shimmer). It feels very smooth and goes on nice. I don’t get any fallout at all from it. It’s such a nice one shadow color for lazy days. Lately I’ve been using it all over my lid with some taupey grey colors over the top to make kind of a day time bronze smokey eye. Whenever I use it, it hasgreat staying power and lasts until I take it off at night. With a primer I have no problem with creasing. It’s just a really nice natural color great for a lazy day or layering. I really like it and will use it a lot. The color and quality are both good. IMG_2400

IMG_2389To put all the eye shadow on I got a brush as well.  It’s an Elizabeth Mott All Over Shadow brush. This is $9.99 and 100% synthetic. This thing is really soft and smooth feeling. It’s fairly dense and shaped like a normal all over shadow brush. It’s a pretty light brush which can make it feel a little cheap but I really like the way it feels in my hand. It’s also a pretty short brush compared to my ecotools and real techniques brushes. It gets a good amount of color packed on if you want. It’s a good size for get shadow all over the lid, on the brow bone, a smokey crease color, or even concealer. It’s been a real multitask brush for me this month and I will definitely be using it a lot. It cleans off really easily. It feels amazing on the eye, super soft and doesn’t irritate it at all. I would definitely recommend this to people especially for the price.

FullSizeRender (1)Second to last was an eye cream from Nourish Organic. A full size of this is $19.99 and 15 mL and this was 14 mL so a very generous sample. It doesn’t seem to have a smell to me but I could be wrong. It blends in really easily and it starts off lighter feeling until you blend it in more, that’s when it starts to feel like an actual cream. Honestly I was a bit disappointed in this. It didn’t really seem to do much for me. I used it for quite a while and I didn’t really notice much difference. I could have used my regular moisturizer and that would have been just as good if not better. I really wanted this to work for me but other than some moisturizing it didn’t do anything. I’ll use it to moisturize under my eyes but it won’t be something I’ll get more of.

IMG_2397The last product I got is a mojito lip balm from Malin+Goetz. A full size is $12 and 10g and this sample is 7g so another generous sample. I love this stuff! This stuff has kept my lips feeling so much better than they really ever have. It has a light minty scent. It isn’t overpowering but it’s there and I like it. I don’t find this to be too sticky but you can definitely tell it’s on your lips. It’s more of a smooth slippery feel on the lips. My mom hates anything on her lips so she really didn’t like the one that she got but I honestly like the feel of it a lot. I’ve noticed with lots of lip balms and products that you can put it on and it feels nice for a little. Before long though it’s like i never put anything on my lips. This is not like that. When I first put it on I can almost instantly feel a difference and my lips love this stuff. Later though when other products would be gone I can still feel this. Even after most of the slippy feel and product has gone I still feel it working. It’s hard to explain but it feels fantastic. It also gives a nice almost glossy look so I can put this on by itself and be set for the day. It’s thicker than a gloss which probably adds to being able to feel it a lot on your lips. Like I said though I really like the feel of it and I really like it overall.

Overall this was another pretty good bag. They were all either full size or very generous samples and some of the products paid for the bag all by themselves. All the products were natural which was really cool. The bag was really cute and I really liked the Pacifica eye shadow, the brush, and the lippy. The other two I’ll finish using but I wouldn’t repurchase or recommend them to anyone. Did any of you guys get Ipsy this last month? What did you think of your bag? Be on the lookout for February’s Ipsy soon. Hopefully your week has gotten off to a good start. Have a spectacular day and I’ll see you tomorrow. 🙂
