So let’s talk about hair. Toward the middle of summer I got my hair cut. I had hair down to my waist and I got it cut right above my shoulders. Honestly when I went in all I knew was that I wanted it above my shoulders because my hair getting caught under my purse straps was getting very annoying and I also knew I wanted straight across bangs.
Going to get my hair cut was kind of a last minute decision so off to the local Great Clips it was. I know there are lots of people that are scared by places like this but I’ve had pretty good luck with them and where I live there aren’t many other options. I was a bit nervous this time because I didn’t know exactly what I wanted but I left with a haircut that I really loved. Don’t ask me to much about the haircut because all I know is that it was just above my shoulders, had straight across bangs, had some layers, and that she thinned it a bit in the back because my hair is super thick there. I really love having shorter hair and grew more and more confident as more people started comparing the hair to Taylor Swift’s cut. Really though, if you’re thinking about getting your hair cut just do it. It feels better, doesn’t get caught on everything, uses less product, and if you don’t like it you can just wait for it to grow out again.
As far as product goes, I mostly just use shampoo in the shower and sometimes add conditioner to the routine. I’ve been using the Dove Intensive Repair shampoo and the Dove Revival Shampoo. Both are pretty budget friendly and both work great with my hair. Out of the two I have to say that I like the Intensive Repair better as it keeps my hair clean for longer and makes it softer. Both smell great and both make my hair look great. I already did a review on the conditioner/hair mask I use and I’m still using the same thing.
Recently I’ve been using heat on my hair more often. I already have very straight hair but I like to use a straightener on my shorter hair to make it all go the right way and make it so the ends don’t stick out at weird angles. I’ve been using the TRESemme Heat Tamer spray and I really think it helps to protect my hair and helps my hair hold whatever style. I don’t feel like my hair is getting damaged and the product smells good as well.
I don’t really use much product in my hair. What do you guys use in your hair? I could always use some great new products to try out. If you’ve gotten your hair cut recently let me know how you like it. I hope your week is going great, you’re halfway there. Have an amazing Wednesday and I’ll see you again on Friday.
I love movies and I love to read so when a movie based on a book comes out, I get really excited and also nervous. If I’ve read the book that the movie is based on, I want to movie to follow it the best they can. That being said, Scorch Trials is a movie you need to go into knowing that it’s more inspired by the book than based off of it. It’s been a while since I’ve read the book but even I noticed that there were a lot of changes and some of them were pretty major changes. I understood that some of the changes happened because of changes that happened in the first movie but others seemed like they were changed for no reason. I’m not going to talk about each and every change they made but if you’ve seen it let me know what you think about all the changes.
So it’s been a whole 7 months since my last post on here. I feel really bad that’s it’s been so long but I had a job that was working me upwards of 50 hours a week and I just couldn’t keep up with the posts on here. Basically I took a much needed hiatus but now I’m back.
Quite a lot happened while I was away. I went on vacation, my baby brother got his first job, I got my hair cut (I get compared to Taylor Swift a lot now), and of course I’ve been adding to my makeup collection. I really want to post regularly for you guys and keep to a schedule so for now I’m going to be posting on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Those will be my most free days and that way you get to start and end the weekend with a post and also get a post midweek. We’ll see how long I can keep that up (haha not so great with schedules btu I’m going to try).
I’m going to keep everything mostly beauty related with some extra bits thrown in (I haven’t decided whether I’ll do non-beauty related posts on the scheduled days or whether I’ll add them in on extra days so let me know what you think). I’m going to go back to doing the monthly Ipsy bag unboxing and follow up later in the month. I think instead of a “monthly favorites” I’ll do a summary style post everything for talking about products, items, and events in general from that month. Like before I’ll also have product reviews and hauls. Hopefully I’ll start adding some tutorials or lookbooks as I get a bit more confident in my style and makeup abilities and also get comfortable with posting again.
That’s all I’ve got for today, basically just a long overdue update for you guys and a promise that I’m going to try my absolute best to stick to the schedule and post regularly. I hope you guys are having a fantastic day and I’ll see you guys Sunday.
February was a pretty eventful month for me but, for the most part, I used a lot of the same products I always do. I do have a couple beauty favorites I wanted to share with you and then a couple non beauty favorites at the end as well.
I really want to start doing favorites every month so I decided to start things off with some of the let downs this month for me. Maybe it will help you decide on whether you should buy something or not. Also, just because I say it didn’t work for me doesn’t mean that it will be the same for you, you may love it.
So this week I’ve decided to go makeup free. This stems from a few things going on right now. First of all I read a Buzzfeed article about a lady going makeup free for a week and, although I have gone makeup free before, I hardly every leave my house now without at least mascara and under eye concealer. I wanted to give this a try for longer than a day or two. You can read that article here.
I never used to really care much about makeup. My mom never wore any and I don’t have any sisters so I never really had anyone to tell me how to use makeup, that was until I discovered Youtube. After watching some videos I was excited to try new things and see what I thought looked good, it was (and still is) fun. I feel like sometimes though, I start to get a little dependent on makeup. I start to feel not so pretty without it. I point out all my flaws like my under eyes or blemishes instead of really focusing on what makes me unique and beautiful in my own way. So recently I’ve noticed this a lot more than usual and, for me, that means I need a little break from it.
Sometimes my skin gets a little angry. It gets red, dry, oily, full of blemishes, and you name it. I feel like sometimes not only I need a break but my skin does too. I don’t really think it likes being all covered up all the time. I’ve still been cleaning it and moisturizing it for these couple days but there’s been no makeup on it. Honestly it’s already feeling less dry.
Maybe it’s just me but at least a lot of people I know have been pretty down lately for whatever reason, myself included. I know some people really like to focus on makeup and going all out on that when they’re feeling down but I’m kind of the opposite. I guess sometimes I do really want to go all out on makeup if I’m having a bad day or week but really I know that it won’t really help. I’ve kind of decided that without the makeup I can focus a little more on myself I guess, if that makes sense. It also opens up a ton of time in the morning to eat a good breakfast, take a long shower, or just get some extra sleep before school. That little bit of extra time has made me more productive throughout the day.
I’ve got a couple pretty big blemishes on my face so these first couple days have been really weird. I’ve really wanted to cover up the spots and also cover up my dark circles under my eyes. It’s amazing how dependent I’ve gotten on concealer. Honestly though, nobody looks at me or treats me any different. I still get people smiling at me when I walk by and little things like that. My family hasn’t said anything either (if my mom thought I looked bad she would say something). I’m sure some people have thought I look a little tired or something (please don’t tell people they look tired, it makes me feel terrible when people say I look tired) but it really hasn’t made a huge difference in how other see me and treat me, it’s been all about how I see myself.
So how’s your guys’ relationship with makeup? Maybe it would be nice to go makeup free for a while. Hopefully the start to your week has been a good one. It’s going to be a long week for me but Friday is only 3 days away. Always let me know what you think and what you want to see posted next in the comments. Have a great day guys and I’ll see you Thursday. 🙂
This month the estimated delivery date for my bag changed more than it usually does. First it was supposed to be here on Valentine’s day and then it got switched to the 23rd and then it finally showed up today. If you don’t know what an Ipsy bag is, it’s a $10 monthly subscription bag that sends you usually 5 deluxe samples or full size beauty products (makeup, hair, and skincare). You can go to their website and take a quiz so that the bags they send you are tailored to you and what you want. This month the bag was pink (Valentine’s Day) with little diamonds on the bottom part of it that were pink and grey. It’s not my favorite bag but as far as quality it’s the same as most other bags.
